Welcome to the Learning Corner about compound words!
Compound words are fun! Compound words are words made up of two smaller words, STUCK TOGETHER.
Why is it important to know about compound words? Because if we ever see a word we don't know, we can look more closely at it, we might see that it is actually compound word. And if we know one or both of those words, then we can figure out what that word means!
Here are some examples of COMPOUND WORDS:
1. classroom (class + room)
2. airplane (air + plane)
3. cupcake (cup + cake)
4. headache (head + ache)
5. baseball, basketball, volleyball, football...
And there are many more!
